Alloy 321 is a stabilize chromium-nickel stainless steel which was developed to provide an alloy with improved Intergranular corrosion resistance. With the addition of titanium, the alloy is stabilized against chromium carbide formation. The alloy has been considered for the applications which require intermittent heating. It consists of 0.08% carbon, 19% chromium, 9% of nickel, and 2% of silicon which increases high-temperature strength.
